Roger Ebert was wrong about this one saying, "it's better than the first two." To me, it just sounded rediculous. Verified reviews are considered more trustworthy by fellow moviegoers. Released in late 1997, Home Alone 3 is a family comedy movie that comes as the third installment in the Home Alone series. However, in this sequel, the lead actor is no longer played by Macaulay Culkin, who played both Home Alone 1 and 2. The story begins with a group of internationally wanted crooks named Peter, Alice, Button, and Earl who've just stolen a military chip designed to cloak missiles.

Air Force Recruitment Center about the discovery and asks if they can forward the information about the chip to the right authorities. Meanwhile, FBI agents and Chicago PD officers arrive at Alex's siblings' school after a tipoff from the recruitment center. Alex's family brings the agents and the police to their house, where they arrest Alice, Jernigan, and Unger. However, Beaupre hides in the snow fort in the backyard. The parrot drives the remote control car into the fort and threatens to light fireworks, which are lined around the inside. Beaupre offers a cracker in exchange for silence, but the parrot demands two.
Eight-year-old Alex Pruitt is given the remote control car by Mrs. Hess for shoveling her driveway. He returns home and discovers that he has chickenpox and must stay out of school. The next day, Alex discovers the thieves while spying on his neighbors. Wondering what they want with the toy car, Alex opens it and discovers the stolen chip.

With Alex left alone, he decides to do some sightseeing at the attic. He then finds the four criminals and quickly becomes suspicious of their motives. But before the police arrive, the group of bandits flee the scene, leading the police to think that Alex is playing a prank. Later, Alex finds the criminals again scouting the neighborhood.
He installs a camera on an RC and attempts to film the thieves in action as they break in every house. Unfortunately, the tape was confiscated by one of the thieves, leaving Alex no proof to support his claims. He then installs a variety of booby traps within the premises to protect him and the chip from being caught. Fortunately, the booby traps work and are able to subdue the criminals, which enable the police to respond just in time.

Peter Beaupre, Alice Ribbons, Burton Jernigan, and Earl Unger are four internationally wanted criminals who work for a terrorist organization. However, a luggage mix-up causes a Chicago-bound elderly passenger named Mrs. Hess to inadvertently take the thieves' bag containing the car. The four thieves arrive in Chicago and systematically search every house in Mrs. Hess's suburban neighborhood to find the chip.
Home Alone 1-3 hits so hard knowing we're all grown-ups now. You can only understand life until you realize that you're almost 25 and still have no achievements in life. The negatives are that some of the violence, that was classic in the first two films, seemed to have been reduced to cartoon slapstick. Another problem was that I didn't recognise any of the characters, and the uneven script didn't allow them to develop properly.

Sure it was better than the 4th one, but that doesn't say much. It had it's funny moments here and there, so that's why I give it 1 1/2 stars. It makes me feel said how John Hughes would write a movie like this one. Looks like hollywood really did sold him out during this time.
Since Beaupre has only one, the parrot then lights the fireworks and flees. Alex Pruitt, an 8-year-old boy living in Chicago, must fend off international spies who seek a top-secret computer chip in his toy car. Home Alone 3 steers clear of the mistakes of the previous films, and makes all new ones. Whereas 2 went too dark and violent, 3 goes too cartoonish and slapstick. Where the first film thought small, with just a pair of common burglars, 3 goes big, with a team of international terrorists. Still, the film's beginning shows some cleverness in setting up a new, original home alone situation, but it quickly devolves into garbage.
Home Alone 3 is a 1997 comedy with a runtime of 1 hour and 42 minutes. It has received mostly poor reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 4.5. Lol, I watched it when I was a kid and didn't realize that Scarlet Johannson is here not until now.
Also, I do miss the antics of the Wet Bandits, the new villains weren't as effective. I don't think the film is as bad as the rating suggests, but it does pale in comparison to the first two films, which are holiday classics to me! There were some bits I liked, but some bits where improvements would have been appreciated. Stupid, poorly acted, and poorly written, Home Alone 3 has got to be the worst installment in the series.
Olek Krupa as Peter Beaupre, the leader of the international criminals. The positives are that Alex D Linz makes a cute and charming lead, though Macaulay Culkin is definitely better. The film does look lovely, and there is evidence of some detailed direction. Believe me, this film is much better than the vomitous Home Alone 4.
Beaupre ambushes Alex, but the latter uses a bubble gun resembling a Glock to scare him off. Gosh, this is real bad, only watched it because of Lenny Von Dohlen. The choice of songs were bad, acting was bad, plot was bad, script was bad, camera work was bad, trap design was bad, actors looked bad. Home Alone 3 is available to watch, stream, download and buy on demand at Disney+ and Google Play. Some platforms allow you to rent Home Alone 3 for a limited time or purchase the movie and download it to your device.
When Alex is explaining that the bad guys had Johnny Allen's dog and Allen said his dog was stolen, the police brush it off. Johnny Allen reporting his dog missing and Alex seeing the dog with the bad guys is sufficient enough evidence for Alex's story to have credibility.
